Some years ago, Trader Joe’s introduced a wine known as “Two Buck Chuck”. Two Buck came from the retail price of the bottle of wine ($1.99) and Chuck was a short version of the Charles Shaw Winery that produced Two Buck Chuck. Chuck Evans wanted to sell his own version of “Two Buck Chuck” in his stores. In this chapter of “Life Behind the Counter-the Story of Chuck Evans and his Liquor Stores”, you will read about:
- The winery from Chile who produced the wine for Chuck
- How this wine went from another Two Buck Chuck to being a Five Buck Chuck
- What happens when guys from Smiths Grove strike international trade deals over a few bottles of wine
- The route that this wine took from Chile to finally get to Bowling Green
Chuck expected this wine to become another Two Buck Chuck, not a Five Buck Chuck. It’s an interesting story and I applaud Chuck’s attempt to do something out of the ordinary. In my next chapter preview, we’ll talk about The Kentucky Derby. Thanks for following along!
