In Chapter 6, we take a break from the liquor stores and head to the farm. Chapter 6 is titled “The Farm”, for right now anyway. Chuck and his father Maxie were not just partners in the liquor business, but also on the farm. This chapter ended up being the longest chapter in the entire book. Here’s some of the highlights from Chapter 6:
- All the “fun” we had working the annual tobacco crop.
- Tales from a real life haunted house and farm, with two close encounters with things not of this world.
- You will meet a dear family friend whose life ended so suddenly from a farm accident.
- You will meet a man who saved my life as a boy and another man who was going to whip Robert with a switch until Maxie intervened.
- For all of Chuck’s success in the liquor business, he had two major failures on the farm.
- Maxie reaches “millionaire status”, just not in the way that you would think.
