In Chapter 11, you will read about Chuck’s next store in Bowling Green, known officially as Chuck’s Liquor Outlet and unofficially as Chuck’s #3. In this Chapter, I will:
- Explain why the corner of Veteran’s Memorial and Morgantown Road was the chosen site for this store.
- Introduce you to a local commercial real estate agent who would become a great help and friend.
- Detail how it was that Chuck bought the “old” Fraternal Order of Police building and property for this new store.
- Give you a look at the local builder who constructed this building.
- Introduce you to another great friend who would keep this store afloat when times got tough.
Chuck’s #3 is now closed and is being used as a church. But while it was open, there were some good stories that came out this store. I spent a lot of time there myself in 2009-2010 when I returned to work for the stores when Chuck became ill the last year of his life.
In my next preview, we’ll look at a different style of liquor store for Chuck, a store that become known as Chuck’s of Hartland, or Chuck’s #4. Thanks for following these previews!
