Many of you have asked about when the book about Chuck Evans and his liquor stores will be ready for purchase. I’ve discovered (the hard way) that there is a lot more to writing a book than just writing a book. Here’s the steps:
- Write the book (completed): I finished the book about three months ago. I then read through the whole book two more times, making small adjustments each time.
- Editing and proofreading (in progress): The book is currently in the hands of my editor. He should be finished in a couple of weeks with his part of the project.
- Post-Editing fixes (March): I’ll review the Editors suggestions and will then do a final update of the book.
- Book Cover Design (March-April): I am currently seeking a graphic designer to help me create a book cover. Again, there’s more to it than I initially thought. The book cover design includes the back cover and spine of the book as well.
- Complete copyrights/ISBNs (March-April): I need to finalize my copyright application and also apply for ISBN numbers.
- Book formatting (April): You can’t just hand a printing company a flash drive with your book saved on it. The book has to be formatted a certain way for it to print correctly. The book cover also has to be formatted a certain way. Professional formatters are needed to achieve this.
- Print the book (May): Finally…..the printing company will print as many copies as I can afford to have printed. Being a self-publisher, all of the above expenses fall on me. That’s why I’m so grateful for all of those who have expressed interest in buying a copy!
That’s all for now. I’ll preview Chapter 9 (Beer Wars) tomorrow!
You should try Molly for the cover.
