Over Chuck’s 40+ years in the liquor business in Bowling Green, I would guess that at least 1,000 different folks have worked for Chuck at one time or another. In this chapter of “Life Behind the Counter-the Story of Chuck Evans and his Liquor Stores”, we’ll look at 5 employees from over the years. They each give an interesting look into the stores. You will read about:
- The first employee that I can remember, Mr. Bill Gibson. Bill worked for Chuck at 100 State Street in the early 1970’s.
- A couple of WKU football players that worked for Chuck and actually played for a spell in the NFL.
- The employee who worked the longest amount of years with Chuck, spanning 3 decades.
- The employee that didn’t work behind the counter or take care of customers, but had a unique role.
I suppose that a full book could be written just about the many fine folks that have worked with Chuck over the 40 years. Many of the people that I personally worked with are still very good friends today. In my next chapter preview, we’ll look at some of the salespeople that sold various merchandise to Chuck over the years. Thanks for following!
